Walk Across the Headwaters

See or get your feet wet and walk across the headwaters of the Mississippi where the mighty river that flows across the country begins as a little trickle.

Ride or hike the many miles of bike/hiking trails full of gorgeous woodland views. Catch a glimpse of wildlife such as bald eagles, swans, deer, or even black bear.

Maybe drive the scenic loop through the park and stop for a great lunch or dinner at Douglas Lodge on the shore of lake Itasca.

Drive into downtown Bemidji and walk around the lake on a paved trail or check out the sculptures on the downtown streets.

Walk the Paul Bunyan trail or take a drive to check out the Lost 40 (a unique unmapped and untouched part of the Chippewa National Forest)
